Earthquake Questions
With all the earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and floods going on around the world as of late is this just the buildup to 2012? Is it the beginning of the apocalypse?

Oh I give up. Fine, yes it’s the end of the world. We’re all going to die. Is that what you want to hear?

I hope so. Humans failed. Might as well hope it ends as soon as possible.

Why weren’t the first three the beginning of the end? Same thing now.

Usually the earthquake comes after you’ve eaten the chili

Actually the strongest earthquake on record was a 9.5.

*Facepalm*
Have a look at some of the Earthquakes before the Richter scale and accurate measurements. For example, the eruption of Krakatoa (which was a volcano, but still massive seismic activity followed). That caused far more damage than the Chile earthquake, and that was over 100 years ago. So what was your point?

Yes.
And you are the very first person who thought to ask this question.
How very brilliant, you yellow crayon, you!

This is what Jesus said about it.
The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
7 So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?”
8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore[b] do not go after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”
10 Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. 13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls

It’s part of it.

Get your facts straight — the frequency of earthquakes has NOT been increasing.
I’d say your freaking out about absolutely nothing. But maybe you like that.

Every second that goes by marks the end of the world as we know it. You can never go back, not even five minutes. Just be. And be good. And be well.

Nothing apocalyptic is going to happen in 2012.

Earthquakes are not unusual.

And mystics hate facts, obviously.

If you study Geology you will learn that the earthquake was a result of plate tectonics, physically observed along the coast of land bordering the ocean such as California which also has big earthquake fault lines, and has nothing to do with the apocalypse. Even if there are a bunch of magnitude 10 earthquakes along these earthquake prone countries/states, life will still go on in 99.99% of the rest of the world. For as long as the Earth exists and the lava pushes up from beneath the ocean floor, pushing the ground, there will be earthquakes, as they’ve been happening for billions of years. New York also had the most snow in recorded history (as in past 100 or 200 years) (though during unrecorded times it could’ve had more) but that doesn’t mean the world is ending even though some injuries associated with it, including the death of a man from snow crashing on him from a tree, have been reported.

not at all..
the beginning has never been so far from the end.. and vise versa!!…
Its all a natural and physical Earth phenomena…to be recorded ..but not . Judged.

It was not the strongest earthquake in recorded history! TV and radio announcers need to check history. The planet is living, moving, and changing. It’s as simple as that. There will always be earthquakes. Read up on geology, and the techtonic plates.

If it was number 4 then why weren’t 1, 2 and 3 signs of the Apocalypse?
BTW, it wasn’t the 4th largest. It was tied for number 7. The other number 7 occurred in 1906, 3 months before the San Francisco quake. Was there an Apocalypse in 1906 that didn’t make the history books? Must be some sort of Mayan conspiracy.
byHisgrace on March 4, 2010 at 4:10 am
Please forget about the date 2012. No one knows the day nor the hour when Jesus will return. That date was taken from the Mayan calandar and has nothing to do with the end times.
Pick up a Bible and read Matthew 24 and Luke 21. Jesus tells us what will happen before the end of the age. Jesus said these things must happen before the end. These are the signs we need to watch for and pray, like Jesus said. These are called the "birth pains" or "birth pangs." The Bible likens it to a woman getting ready to give birth. There will be wars and rumors of wars, and earthquakes in various places. Sounds like the news today, doesn’t it? Yes, we are now in that place in time. But, you don’t have to be afraid if you have Jesus in your life. He said to "Keep watch and pray" so that He will not come to you like a "thief in the night." But, you will know by the signs that He has told you what to expect. Stand fast in your faith in the Lord, until the end. And anyone who does this will be saved out of God’s wrath to come. (not the Tribulation, but the wrath of God at the end of the Tribulation–Jesus will cut the Tribulation short so not eveyone will perish).
Everistus on March 4, 2010 at 4:10 am
Actually from Biblical perspective there will be earthquakes and other forms of tribulation before the end of the world or the coming of Christ. However it will be wrong to attribute any date or time as the beginning of the apocalypse because Matthew 24:36 says that no one knows the hour not even the angels in heaven know the time. Surely the hour is coming but not precisely known by anybody.
Jens-Peter on March 4, 2010 at 4:10 am
Biblical Response: Many and large earthquakes are just one of many Signs of which Jesus spoke. He talked about that it marks the beginning, but it is still not the end. You can read in Matthew chapter 24. Before that there are still some to go a few prophecies come true. The signs and times of the Bible prove that we belong to the generation that will experience the change.
