They now want to make their convention a telethon for Hurricane relief, so they can win votes.

Im sure you would be one of those crying about why the Republicans didnt do something if Gustav hit NO point blank.
Every wonder why the DNC can send buses to pick up blacks during elections but couldnt send any to get them out of the way of a Cat 5 hurricane?

Raising money for disaster relief – how dastardly!
Putting the needs of their fellow citizens before themselves – how devious!
I guess it’s all part of that "Country First" platform they’ve been pushing.

If it were true not much different to Obama promising hand outs to win votes. Don’t see your point.

How dare they try to help in a way that helps them as well.
I wish my party did more of that. They’ve had plenty of chances. Not that they didn’t make a lot of capital out of New Orleans…
Let’s not be silly, shall we?

You sound like Michael Moore… There’s my answer. Thanks for the points.

There’s probably nothing to change YOUR mind, but after Palin’s nomination & Katrina, I’d like to give the Republicans (& I hate to say it, but I think the Democrats would’ve done the same) the benefit of the doubt & believe they are REALLY thinking about the welfare of the country * New Orleans. I know it’s hard to accept, especially when Pelosi & Reid closed up shop when we were in energy trouble to go on vacation, but I WANT to hope, just maybe, some politicians really do care about people & the country.

Republicans will use ANYTHING including their own fabrications for political gain.. They are nothing more then bottom feeders.

Because if they didn’t postpone, we democrats would skewer them alive for carrying on and not showing or voicing concern for their countrymen. The microphone’s not going to be at the convention anyway – it’ll be down in Louisiana. If the shoe were on the other foot, if it was the dem convention, we’d postpone too. It’s the right thing to do.

It’s true, the Republicans *are* considering postponing the convention and collecting donations instead:

I’m a Democrat, and I don’t think this is a terrible idea. People just need to keep in mind that this donation drive would NOT be done if it weren’t campaign season.

Republicans are going to have a drive, where is the Democrats Drive? They just don’t care, there just aren’t enough voters in Louisiana to do it.
