Why are conservatives questioning Obama’s authority to send earthquake disaster relief to Haiti?

where was the GOP outrage when GWB sent tsunami relief?….or when GWB send AIDS relief to africa?…or when GWB sent earthquake relief to china and india?
republicans are once again demonstrating the hypocrisy of the phrase ‘compassionate conservatism’.
and u wonder why McCain only got 3% of the black vote in 2008.

Have you noticed that since the election, Conservatives are against practically everything that Obama does ?
Sali on January 15, 2010 at 3:57 am
do you think Obama is responsible for the whole world’s disasters. What about USA and many aspects he will be questioned on.

To answer your question – they are not. I see you have got your new talking points memo from the lib trolls.

You must be tuned into MSNBC… I’vee not heard any politician say anything derogatory toward the White House regarding the Haiti relief effort. As a matter of fact Secretary Clinton was on fox & friends this morning. No conservatives had anything negative to say.
You should back up your accusation with names. Painting all conservatives is B.S. It would be the same as saying all libs want to ban us from eating too much salt but they’re willing to rip out a fetus from a woman’s whom.

Like who for instance?
You people are amazing! You’ve got to politicize everything if you can get an insult in or accuse somebody of something. Not only are we not questioning his authority in this but we’ve already sent money to help–even if we’re struggling ourselves.
Get a conscience.

Why would I be against Obama sending aid? I’d much rather spend a few billion on Hati, where it’s badly needed, than wasting it here on health care reform.
McCain got 3% of the black vote because he was white, my friend.

It is a blame game, no matter what any President does, really Democrat or Republican, the other side feels compelled to oppose him. But the race of the President or the people in this disaster should have nothing to do with anything.
I do not oppose aid to Haiti with this horrible tragedy, but I can see where people might be with the economy like it is, people out of work in America and people from Katrina still without homes in some cases. But if we ignore this disaster, regardless of where it is, we would be morally wrong, since we have the means to help in rescue, recovery, medical assistance, etc. And if we did not help and epidemics broke out, then we would be even more wrong for not helping.
It should not matter to anyone that people in Haiti are nearly all Black in a disaster of this magnitude. That should not mean ‘Black votes’ for anybody. If this was Sweden, would that mean "White votes’ for helping Scandinavians? But if we refused to help because they are of African descent, then I could see where African Americans and others would be upset.

As most people are aware on these pages, the real issue isn’t that the CONSERVATIVES are denouncing the relief effort as much as the the LIBERAL SOCIALIST are taking offense to ANYONE denouncing the relief effort, then ASSIGNING the blame to their enemies the Conservatives…
Paranoia really doesn’t get you that far in life…All Y’all Liberal Socialists should give up on your paranoia.

Because Obama knows that the U.S. was behind the earthquake in Haiti. Not only that, the tsunami was the result of political tensions between the U.S. and the Indonesian governments.

I am fairly conservative. The relief efforts in the past were launched in a time of better economy in this country. I am not saying that we should not help. But given our current economic state, and current national debt, we shouldn’t be launching an "all out relief effort" on the backs of the hard working tax-paying Americans. We should definitely send some emergency aid to help now, and the citizens should be encouraged to independently fundraise or make donations for help rebuilding the country in the coming months. But it is not the responsibility of our government to help anyone but our own citizens. Everything we do aid wise should be a much appreciated gift, and no one should be expecting us to spend some astronomical amount of money to help a country, who to my knowledge, had never done anything to help us. I feel terrible for the people affected by the earthquake. Our apartment complex is already organizing a rummage sale, with all proceeds going to Haiti to help in relief efforts. But that is the individual choice of every participating resident to donate their time and money made off their possessions they bought and paid taxes on. When our already spread thin tax dollars are being shipped over there, it is no longer a choice or act of charity based on an individuals desire to help. Our own country is falling apart economically, regular normally hard working people are out of jobs, homeless and living in the street, where is our free aid? O, right, we don’t get any but we can take out expensive loans and set ourselves up to be financially dependent on other nations. What a load of BS.

Anyone can help Haitians by giving to one of many non-governmental agencies. I recommend the Salvation Army. Conservatives are far bigger givers than liberals. Liberals use government to get money, not give it.

I don’t know where you are getting your information from. This conservative totally supports helping the Haitians.

It was the democrats crying that GWB spent too much in foreign aid….yeah for 8 years. I haven’t heard one representative or average citizen complain about aid to Haiti…..just like you on the left to make up lies….taking after our esteemed president I see.

Because we are a disaster area in the US and we are broke..
GWB only left us 1/2 a trillion in debt, Obama now has taken the slash mark out of that & we are 12 trillion dollars in debt.
There is not money, we are broke and Obama acts like nothing is happening ..
He needs to fix our economy or we will be like Haiti in the future. 17% unemployment with people that have over a year without a job. He is virtually doing nothing.
The man just asked for 800 billion dollars for the wars that he vowed to stop. another trillion dollars that we do not have. Why does he think that he can print money and it has no effect on the economy..
You want a black man in the white house, then put a competent one, how about Alan Keyes.. Somebody that can do something. It isn’t about being black it is about having the ability to run the country, which Obama does not.
