Which natural disaster are you most afraid of?

Disaster
I’m terrified of tornadoes. I think it’s because I’ve never experienced one, and the thought of like being in my house and just watching a giant tornado of doom come toward me; scares the crap out of me.

I’m scared to death of tornadoes, even though I live in NYC & blizzards are very common here.

well. i’m just afraid of nature in general.
for good reason. we can’t control it.
all things that we can’t predict 24/7 are frightening.

Well since recently moving to Miamy FL. Hurricanes are scaring the bajeezus out of me, but everybody here seems to think they’re no biggie, and kinda cool.
HouAnswerGuy on May 1, 2010 at 9:25 am
Earthquakes since there is no warning and no time to prepare.

The Hurricane Gustav is certainly scaring many people.
I think any natural disaster that wreaks havoc and death on a population is scary and sad.

I am really scared of tornadoes. My sister was in the Parkersburg, Iowa tornado. It took almost all of the town and it was only two blocks from my sisters house. Her house wasn’t damaged or anything.

For me it’s earthquake.

Tornadoes scare me too, but I’m more afraid of hurricanes. This is because they are tornadoes that cause floods, basically, and I don’t think I could swim well enough to save myself from a raging flood.

Tornados

Tornado’s are my big one too. You do not have any time to prepare. And with no basement, it is a real concern. And I live nowhere near Kansas.

alicia on May 1, 2010 at 9:25 am
i think tornadoes. i lost my home to one in 1999. the sirens didn’t even go off til it was all over. but since i live on the gulf coast and gustav is heading my way i guess it is a tie. the only good thing with hurricanes is at least we have some warning. i am gonna stay and ride it out. i made it through the tornado so i’m gonna hope for the best with the hurricane.

global warming… you know its coming but when will it hit you? That disaster is happening every day and it is freaking me out AHH!, if you’re going to hit us, do it now or give us a date, surprises are scary.

I hate snow so probably avalanche if lived near mountains, but scared of fires when lived on the edge of bushland in Australia, ditto bad tornados etc., (high winds are scary enough) most natural disasters are scary, (including floods). My main fear these days is of a blackout because I am on an oygen generator, regardless of the cause.
BdB on May 1, 2010 at 9:25 am
lol, i went through a tornado (F2, 150 ft away) in 2000 without flinching
i live in tornado alley,(Texas) so twisters are common
Roadrunner58-79 on May 1, 2010 at 9:25 am
Hurricanes!
Those We Do Not Speak Of on May 1, 2010 at 9:25 am
I’ve been in two fires, fought and took one out, and on fire once.
A fire on a scale that is out of my control, like a forrest fire or something like that scares me.
Can It Be More Ridiculous? on May 1, 2010 at 9:25 am
Earthquakes, because they seem to come out of nowhere. Tornadoes don’t bother me because I’ve lived with them all my life, and you usually have at least a little bit of warning so you can take cover. Not so with earthquakes. The one we had here a few months ago about gave me a heart attack, and it wasn’t even a big one.
Randomness:) on May 7, 2010 at 8:40 am
Um, definently not hurricanes because you can evacauate from them and you are warned they are coming. Probably tornadoes because they come from nowhere and you aren’t prepared. Probably natural disasters where they come completely out of nowhere.
