Where is the safest spot in my home during a tornado?

Tornado
Our house is on a hill. Our "basement’ is not underground and there are sliding glass doors going to the front yard from the basement. Every room in our house has windows except for the closets and hallway. There are two adults and two small children. Where is the best spot for us to go if a tornado hits?

Besides the basement, closed closets usually work best. When a tornado hit my house with my two children and my husband, we all tried to fit in the crawlspace. That worked GREAT. Just try to stay out of open areas and stay calm. I hope I helped!

The bathtub in your bathroom.
Cover yourself with lots of blankets

either in the closets, or in a deep bathtub with a matress over top of you.

Closet if it is in like the middle of your house and nothing heavy is above your heads. Lay on the floor.

If there’s no underground floor, go to the middle of the house.
Or go in the closets, but you should always head for areas not having a lot of windows… but as you say..

The inner most closet with no windows is the safest. If it’s small and scary for the kids just remind them that it is much more dangerous and scary outside that space. Show them some videos (depending on age) to help them understand why that space is the safest. Good luck to you.

In the hallway. If you have time drag a something out to put over you and the children. Most people are injured by flying debris.

a bathroom or something where ever there’s no window

anywhere with no windows is the best place like your closet or under a bridge somewhere

A bathroom is the second safest place to be during a tornado. Get into a bathtub and cover yourself with a mattress, in case of flying debris. The reason a basement is safe is because the plumbing holds that area of the house down.
