Obviously, a hurricane would affect a MUCH larger area. You really can't put a number on the smallest possible area a disaster could destroy. It's entirely possible for a tornado to touch down, trash the baseball stadium, and then withdraw back into its storm cloud before it touches anything else. Wildfires i have seen go for hundreds of miles it just depends once again on the condtions that are present at the time of the occurrance, if it is super dry and super windy then there is no telling what is going to happen.
