You will have to legitimize your project, but it should not be hard for the promoters to contact the school to validate your participation. Then you can begin a drive for clothes, canned goods, etc...and give it a snazzy name based on the tickets you receive. Like, Rock the Relief! (with rock concert tickets to contributers). Every time someone donates, they can receive the equivalent of a raffle ticket. The more they donate, the more raffle tickets they receive. At the end, u can have a drawing for tickets.
