Hurricane
We are going on Carnival, leaving a week from today. If a hurricane prevents the cruise, do we get a refund?

it is most unlikely that a cruise is canceled because of hurricanes, they are redirected away from the path of anything that will endanger their ship or passengers. if the cruise was cancelled before departure, a refund would be made, if you still feel unsure, take out travel insurance

You would, but that rarely ever happens. The ship will more likely be diverted from one side of the Caribbean to the other as the weather dictates. For example, a Western Caribbean itinerary would become an Eastern one. You would have to replan your island activities, which is inconvenient, but hey you’re still on an island someplace and not at home!

It rarely happens that the cruise line cancels the whole cruise. As far as a refund be sure to check the cruise lines policy by either calling them or
looking on the documents.
usually they might manuver the ship around the worst of the storm and or no go into ports which might be affected.
best wishes

Only times cruses get canceled are if a hurricane is hitting your departure port on the day you are to board. Otherwise the ships just divert around the storms,
You did buy insurance didn’t you?

well you should have bought trip insurance so you can be reimbursed for any like extra costs and stuff.
but a few years ago, the same thing happened to me…in the middle of a 7-night cruise, the captain announced that there was bad weather due to a hurricane in the last two islands scheduled. so he took us to the bahamas and we stayed there for two days.
so the ship will probably just skip the islands that are calling for bad weather and go to a better island…and i’m pretty sure they don’t give money back for that..unless you have insurance. i think.
have fun.
