Earthquake Questions
What are some of FEMA plans when it comes to preparing for natural disaster emergencies such as hurricane, tornados and earthquakes. Are they well published in terms of what the plans are depending on the area, the type of disaster, the severity of disaster, etc? Is FEMA well prepared for every type of natural disaster that can happen in the US?

Ok. First thing you do is
1.) Dig a hole.
2.) Lower your head slowly.
3.) Fully hide your head in the hole, shoving dirt around the sides to fill in every crack.
4.) Earthquake is over. Pull your head out.

There is no part of the U.S. that is immune to some form of natural disasters. The Federal Government cannot be responsible for helping all those that suffer from them.
The main responsibility lies with the individuals people. Then comes the local community and then the State.
Take today’s earthquake in California. In the last couple of years the Governor and Legislature passed laws providing multi-billions of dollars to pay for programs for illegal immigrants, provide health insurance to every California citizen and many other social welfare programs. They could have put that kind of money in a ‘rainy day fund’ to use to help pay for recovery from earthquakes, fires and other disasters.

Yes, the government has a number of plants in place. Federal, state, and local. There are many links to find on the Internet. Here’s just one from FEMA.
