A coworker told me of a top ten list of natural disaster that came on yahoo recently. He described one of the disasters as occurring about 20 or 40 years ago in some central America country like Ecuador where gas had leaked throughout a city and the gas caught on fire and burned many people. I looked all over and couldn’t find any disaster like this in history. Does anybody know of a disaster like this happening?

i have noticed that since year 2000, a lot of natural disasters have been occuring and seem to be intensifying as we draw even closer to 2012, i mean just this year alone we have had the earth quake in haiti, the earth quake in chile and the earth quake in turkey, the earthquake in indonesia, not to talk about the massive flood in portugal and the latest earthquake in china. is it just me or does it seem that the closer we get to 2012 the mayan end of the world the worse globally things seem to become. i am starting to think that all of these are signs and that on december 21 2012, that something will go wrong with the hadron collider in 2012 and BANG!, THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN AND BYE BYE WORLD WITH A BANG. just interested what are ur thoughts

another thing – the chile earthquake shifted the earth’s axis, and our days are shorter by a fraction of a second, i know not to worry about a fraction of a second, but eventually it adds up… 1/50th of a second is a whole second in just 50 days, a minute in a couple years, and will eventually add up to an hour to a whole day to a couple days, to a week, to a month, to a couple months to half a year, to a whole year (that’s giving the half a second or whatever it is, hundreds of years to take away a whole years worth of time)… i plan on living a long healthy life, so why would i want a day or two taken out of my routine?

I am worried that im going to catch hell for asking this but I am starting to get scared. For the past few weeks i have been having HORRIBLE dreams and they seem to actually be coming true.
Two weeks ago I had a dream that a child fell into my bed. I woke up and searched for it wanting to make sure it was ok. A normal reaction when you wake up like that right? Well the next night my daughter fell out of her crib and she fell in such a way that the child in my dream fell.
A little bit after that I had a dream that the ground starting to shake and that everything started crashing down around me. A day or two after that the Haiti earthquake happened.
Almost immediately after that I started dreaming about an explosion every night and it would either keep me awake or wake me up. Today when I went to yahoo.com to look at the articles out of boredom, the first picture i saw for the first article listed was about an explosion overseas.
I’m really getting scared, and heres the part that people are really going to make fun of me for =\ I have been having dreams off and on through all of this of a huge catastrophe-like event.
I guess my question is, am i making too much out of nothing? Its all just a coincidence right?

Alright, so I was moving and packing up my things because I’m moving next week…
and I found an ancient saber in the back of my closet. I don’t remember how I got it. But it’s old and crazy elaborate. I have some pictures here that I’ll put in the details.
I’m wondering if anyone knows a lot about this sort of thing or can tell me what they think of where it’s from.
Here’s what I do know:
-The blade says "Germany", nearest to the handle.
-The handle says J.M. LITCHFIELD & Co. on it, which is one company out of many that was destroyed in the horrible 1906 San Francisco Earthquake when the entire city crumbled, caught fire, and was declared Martial Law
-The Blade says 32 on it, in multiple places.
-J. M. Litchfield & Co. Existed from 1876 – 1906.
anyway so that’s all I know, I’m really trying to learn more about it, and exploring the idea of sending it to a museum, or selling it to a collector where it would be better appreciated. I can guess that it’s a military saber.
Think someone could give me an idea of how much it’s worth, and what to do with it?

GUATEMALA CITY – A strong earthquake has rocked Guatemala and parts of El Salvador, but no there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage in either country.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.0.
The USGS says it hit Monday morning about 60 miles (97 kilometers) southwest of Guatemala City, where it was felt by many residents. There were reports of shaking in the Guatemalan countryside and in El Salvador as well.

I’m not sure what it is, it starts out with people at a party and it’s for some guy that may be leaving. It’s filmed as a documentary and a few seconds later there’s an earthquake and then everyone goes outside to the roof and there’s a huge explosion in the city ahead and debris is flying everywhere. Everyone goes into the building but eventually they die. At the end it says Bad Robot, but I looked it up and apparently it’s a production company, is it possibly Godzilla 2? Because I’ve read on yahoo that they’re making a Godzilla 2.
I figure this will come up sooner or later. After all, just a few weeks ago they learned that an entire lake in Chile disappeared, and the cause was promptly attributed to a small earthquake by local authorities. But just a week later, the Greenshirts got to them and the explanation was changed to a GW thesis.

Do you think that its weird that i want hurricane Dean to hit miami? My reasons are that hopefully it will delay the start of school. And it gives people an opportunity to repair aging homes and buildings. I also like preparing for the hurricane by going out and buying supplies I know that houses in miami wont fall apart because most are up to code and we dont do that plywood stuff that is done upstate we build with concrete and cement……do any of you "yahoo answer’s" get excitment out of hurricanes..?
Hurricane andrew destroyed whatever falling apart homes and poorly built houses…the last hurricane New orleans got was 50 years earlier…no offense but here miami alot of people take precautions and there are shelters in every corner…in even hurricane andrew there was not many fatalities..
