With all these quakes going on, we need to go ahead and admit there are some tectonic changes going on. Has anyone seen the current status of Yellowstone or any of the other known seismic and volcanic hotspots?
So, I get a high-pitched ring in my right ear, and only my right ear never the left, there’s always an earthquake within the next 24 hours. The longer it lasts, the higher the magnitude. It only rings when there’s gonna be one with a magnitude of 5.0+
My ear rang 5 times yesterday. The times were;
3: 37 a.m. (This one was the longest out of all of them)
8: 55 a.m.
9: 23 a.m.
12: 11 a.m.
5: 19 p.m.

This has been going on for about 5 years now, I’m 13.
Has anyone else had this happen?

A 5.2 earthquake hit in a neighboring state one night with aftershocks felt in Indiana where I live.while I was sleeping it jarred me out of bed and I now wakeup occasionally in the middle of the night feeling what can best described as "phantom earthquakes." I checked the Earthquake website [http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/] and there is nothing that validates my slumberous tremors. (SIDENOTE: Although I just updated 10 minutes later and surprisingly there was a 6.4 in Russia– but I find that somewhat besides the point.)
I don’t necessarily have a fear of earthquakes. Ever since the one we had felt it has caused me to wake up several times in the middle of the night feeling like there was a trembling occurring, none of which have been confirmed on the above website.
I have Googled my heart’s desire to find out if this is a legit thing I’m experiencing…phantom quakes. Any help and serious answerers would be helpful! Thanks.
Yes! US Geological reports a 3.7 magnitute in the SHenandoah-Wash DC area. It woke me up!!!!

december – January 2008
This website has only had a 1 – 3 all year round since then in yellowstone
but now for some reason it’s acting up again or maybe it’s just some pattern that happens around January
Or does it just appear that way? Is it normal for earthquakes to happen in series like this?
I’ve looked on the USGS site and I can see that earthquakes happen every day but how does this year (and last year) stand up to past years?
I haven’t always been up on world news but now I am very into the news…so I’m not sure if it’s just that I didn’t notice it in the past.
BTW, I know there are other places to ask this but I normally get good activity/answers here. 
I think it is easier to blow this off because there is nothing anyone can do to stop an earthquake or tsunami. I discovered after the earthquake in Haiti (right after the earthquake in Eureka) by looking through the earthquake reports that earthquakes do happen everyday. However, I also feel that this is something that you would have to calculate. The information is there for the public, it’s just a matter of who is willing to sort through it and compare it previous years. I don’t have time to do that because I only have a computer at work.

I don’t think it’s the end of the world but I do think our Earth is shifting and changing. Those of us who are fortunate to survive this shifting are going to really enjoy the new Earth.
I am not a "gloom and doom" kind of person but I live in SF, it is very realistic that a big one might hit here in the near future. I feel that something is up with the world.

Is it because we are having more quakes than normal or is the news media out of any good stories so all they show is earthquakes?
having a major earthquake. I have noticed over the years that we have minor quakes, a surprisingly high number for our state, not enough to do much damage, except maybe knock some pictures off the wall, etc.
I recall after the earthquake in Chile, a seimologist from the USGS said there is a 6.0 earthquake every four weeks or so. There were two in the last week and have been 21 so far in 2010 and 20 in all of 2002.

Another big earthquake just happened in the Solomon Islands!
I feel like saying: if a person doesn’t think these quakes are one of the signs that Jesus said would be happening to mark the end times and signify His return,their delusional!
Jesus said there would be earthquakes all over the place all happening at the same time or very close to each other,that’s never been the pattern before of earthquakes in human history!
A person can check this in science facts!

I meant large quakes, not those little things that do nothing. And please don’t be smart with me. Yes obviously its night time somewhere else. I mean at that place where it happens.
It feels like most measurable, newsworthy quakes, happen during the day.
I live only 15 minutes away from the Mexicali border where the 7.2 and other earthquakes have been propagated from and I tell you, i’ve been through the other quakes from 79 when I was a tot, on up and I have never felt one as violent as this one. I think the reason for such a violent earthquake was that it was shallow. I remember right after I was thinking "Christ, did that come from San Andreas??" I wanted to get on the roof to see where the or if there is a dust cloud to see. I lost a display hutch, a fire place mantel, and bottles and glasses. I also have new cracks around my house walls. I’ve seen pictures of Mexicali, man, they got whacked good, lots of liquefaction and collapsed buildings. Anyways, does anyone know of a site that has animations of the sort showing what actually moves underneath, besides the fault. I mean, what do the focus points look like where the epicenters are? I have been following the quakes since 2007, keeping my eye on that Serro Prieto mountain and the Laguna Sulada fault, I am concerned that it could trigger another large one on our side or even the Serro Prieto fault since the two rub elbows with each other. The Laguna Sulada butts right up against the Yuha Wells fault but I’m not sure if it is underneath or on top, lots of aftershocks have been coming from that area and are very close to the surface. Earthquakes fascinate me as well as they terrify me yup

The latest news says that in the past 3 and a half months (2010) there were 70 quakes over 4.0 intensity. The total for the entire past year (2009) was 30.
I am not an alarmist nor do I wish any ill will toward anyone but does this mean anything?

First Haiti, then Chile, then Turkey, now Cali. This is getting pretty crazy, and I know quakes are caused by the plates moving, but why are they all happening now?

I’ve read that doesn’t happen, but we were watching the news and saw that now Japan had a large quake. I studied that little earthquakes happen around us all the time, but the large ones are not as common. Could the recent large quakes be triggering the ones like Japan just had?
I do not get what smart gas is, and why it would help prevent quakes? Actually I do not get why fire has to do with earthquakes.

The earthquakes in Haiti and Chile were both huge, and they did not occur over a long period of time, the only around 2 months apart. Is there a reason for these earthquakes? I know what causes earthquakes, I want to know if theres something else happening that caused the two massive quakes , or if it means something will happen? Or is it just a coincidence? What do you think?

I get notices of all earthquakes over a 2.5 (Richter) there seems to be way to many small ones called clusters. In one area of CA where my sister lives there were 99 from 1.1 to 4.4 in one week. There are also quakes happening in areas that are normally very quiet. Yellowstone National Park, CA is dancing all over the place north, central and southern, Mexico is getting in on the action too as well as there being quakes all over the world. Today there was a 4.1 almost on the border of New Mexico and Colorado. That’s an odd one. We had a couple small ones here in Texas. I’m beginning to wonder what is going on, if it walks like a duck! Anyone interested www.ens@usgs.gov will get you all the info. on the US as well as the world.
Since I posted this questipn there has been a 5.1 in Greese, 5.7 Santa Cruz Islands, a 5.5 in Argentina and a 6. in Guatamala. Plus many small ones. What do you say ot a 4.0 in New Mexico.
Your right about CA but I’m talking about not just the ones in CA, I’m talking about Yellowstone Park, and other places. I do hope your right that all these little ones is releasing pressure and not putting more pressure on the faults, because if it’s adding pressure we’re (the world) going to be in trouble.
I had been a little skeptical about that until the late 1980′s. I live in the midwest where we have some quakes, the New Madrid Fault. I lived next to a house where there was a dog and I had an 8 week old puppy.
3 minutes or so before the 4.5 or so quake, the other dog, a hound, started to howl, and I thought it was sick (it was old) and my puppy literally jumped up in my arms. I thought she was reacting to the other dog’s howling. Just then I felt something and heard a roar, like a loud engine or something, but did not really realize it was a quake at first. I went inside a minute later and my Mom said, "Did you feel the earthquake"? A minute later radio and tv were talking about the quake. This was in St. Louis in 1987 or 1988. It was probably less than a 5 on the Richter scale. But the dogs reacted a full minute-3 minutes ahead of time.
