My 15 year old cousin is the typical stubborn type of girl you see on the Maury show on Saturdays , she refuses to listen to anyone and on top of that she hangs out with these ghetto thug gang banging wannabes who talk her in the doing pretty much anything.
Today she came in my room pleading for help ,telling me that she was pregnant and needed money for some type of abortion pill, I’m completely fed up with this crap because I’m 19 and I’m already working 24/7 because of this economy , and the last thing my parents need is some hard headed teen in the house , and trust me she will do this again she’s not even in high school yet so this is only the beginning. How do we go about sending her somewhere? We’ve tried the police before and they were no help at all they only offer 30 day programs at juvenile centers then your child comes back ten times worse ,we’ve sent her to one of these 30 day programs before only to find out she was escaping out from the windows and through a drug test found out she was sniffing coke with one of her friends out on the streets in Miami , She was sent to haiti to live with a relative and of course a couple months later the earthquake hit ,and boarding schools are up to 4,000 a month when my mom can barely pay for the mortgage..
You would think in this economy things wouldn’t be so expensive

I always wondered out of curiosity. Picture a young boy put into a "Robinson Crusoe" situation. Not baptised, just somehow ended up on his own (earthquake killed his parents), raised himself, fed himself, never sinned, and never been exposed to any religion, people or sin. When he dies which religion would take him? Would Catholic God say ok, you can go to heaven , or will He say you have never read my bible or accepted Catholism you are going to hell? Would Muslim God let him go to heaven? Would any religion accept him? Would Buddhism or Hinduism be kinder to him? What about an older Christian religion like Eastern Orthodoxy?

Hi, I go to college in Austin, but my parents live in an area right outside of Houston called the Woodlands. I talked to them only briefly after the storm, and they said they were fine and had tons of supplies but no power. Now I can’t seem to reach them on their cell phone either and I’m starting to get worried – it’s been two days that I haven’t heard anything. Does anyone know someone in that area? I just wanted to get some information on how everyone is holding up in the Woodlands, I hate not knowing! If you could let me know what you’ve heard, that would be great!

Ok, so if you havent already heard we had a 5.4 earthquake now most parents and people (cuz of being stupid or know it alls) think that you dont need to prepare at all or know anythin about what to do durin an earthquake. i was home with my sis and my dog and this was the first bigger earthquake that has struck our house since i was little and i got scared. i dont want stupid answers but im wondering what is the safety thing to do when it does happen because there has become a debate about whether doorways r safer or ducking under a sturdy table is safer or sitting in your bed with a blanket covering you is safer or running outside to a clear opening is safer or even if crouching near an "interior" wall and covering is safer. What do you guys think especially if you have lived through some bad/big earthquakes? is a preparedness kit neccesary since some people say it isnt? and what is an example of an interior wall? and what if you live in a 2story house with the bedrooms on the 2nd fl?

Ok I posted this 3 yrs ago. The Super Bowl is again in Miami and I havent had any dream like this since. Could it have been this up coming SuperBowl???Here is the question from 3 yrs ago.

Are these just dreams?I live in Tampa area. About 7 years ago i had a strange dream. I was in my parents back yard and looked towards the southeast and saw a mushroom cloud. I knew in my dream it was Miami. Was scary dream and even though miami is about 7 hours drive , there was rocks falling on my head. Move forward. About 5-6 months before Tsunami’s i had dreams of giant wave coming towards gulf coast of florida. Never thought about dream until Tsumani happend. Move forward. About 6 weeks before Katrina had another dream of a big wave but seemed to be caused by storm. Now i remembered 1st dream about three weeks ago when i had another one where i was high above a stadium looking down at it. 3 objects went down into the stadium and saw a big blast. In my dream i knew that the stadium was in Miami. The next thing is i was standing on ledge of a building and that building and all of the other buildings started falling but not like the WTC but like cig ashes. Is this just a dream

I know one happened today it was 5.4 but there is going to be a 9.0 earthquake in California and I’m so scared. I’m only 17 and I cant move out and go back to Europe, because my parents want to stay here. My house is not build on wheels…I don’t know how to save myself or my family when the BIG earthquake actually hits.
the roads will open, trees will fall, and our houses will be in half. Are we all going to die?I’m so scared! you think this will even happen?

Thank you.
Native Speakers please!
Or people that know what the heck they’re saying.

Unfortunately, Raquel’s parents were in the kitchen when the earthquake struck. The funeral was taken place a week later and now Raquel is battling depression forcing Arturo to quit his day job and stay home to take care of their 3 children while Raquel is off talking to her therapist. This had gone on for about a year when Raquel decided to finally end her life by hanging herself off of the ceiling fan. She was found by her youngest child, Olga, who then had psychological nightmares for the remainder of her life time.

Ok so during the past week it seems like i can predict the weather by my nipples reactions. Everytime i get this weird tingle in my left nipple, it gets cloudy and starts to rain. This is a serious question guys…Every time i get a tingle in my right nipple the winds exceed 35 mph and it starts to thunder and lightning. And finally, when both of my nipples tingle at the same time, a natural disaster occurs. When the big tsumani hit i wanted to rip my nipples off it hurt soooo bad. I think this is a problem but im too embaressed to talk to my parents about it and go to the doctors. What do i do??? It gets soo bad i want to get them surgically removed but i want to have kids and breastfeed someday. I know this sounds crazy but this is a real question and i need real answers!! Thank you so much!

Don’t know what to do in San Francisco. Feel very upset and fustrated. Been living in San Francisco very long and here are my problems:

The city is very expensive. It has been expensive for the past 40 years. Why is SF so expensive?

A lot of rich people live in SF and donate money to causes, however, we keep hearing that SF is broke? Why?

Why are the streets so dumpy?

Why did we get screwed out of NBC access on tv and no one complained?

How come big celebrities don’t come to SF? We always see their pictures in LA, NY, London, etc.

Does LA get more earthquakes than SF?
We didn’t move because my parents are immigrants and their English is limited. All our relatives are here.

In terms of dumpy, when I visited, LA, the homes were detached and had lawns. The homes looked clean. The plumbing looked fairly new. Our streets are re-tared so the entire blocks looks very patchy.
Went to Burlingame, the streets are not patchy looking.

There is a lot of litter on our streets.
Food prices are more expensive.
What did Willie Brown do for SF?

I just need help with mistakes and the like.

My phobia, the thing that terrifies me the most, is earthquakes. The millions of people that live in California, let alone on the West Coast, fearing earthquakes may not seem so irrational. Earthquakes have happened. Earthquakes have killed. Earthquakes will happen. So why the use of the word “phobia” if my fears have valid reasons behind them? It is not whether or not my fears are sound or not, but rather my reaction to the earthquakes. All my problems started with one event, problems the likes of which still plague me to this day.

In 1994, an earthquake rocked most of Southern California. The earthquake and the damage it caused could be felt for miles from the epicenter in the San Fernando Valley, and clocked in at a whopping 6.7 on the Richter scale. I was only three at the time, but I can still remember that day vividly. I woke up to my uncle, who had been staying with us at the time, yelling at me. My bed was halfway across the room from where it had been when I had fallen asleep. My parents got to me just seconds after my uncle with my mom screaming for me and running after my dad. It was chaos as we tried to get out of the house. Glasses, plates, pictures, all seeming to fall on to of us, falling from their respective shelves and shattering on the floor. It was no wonder that no one had noticed my dad’s foot had started bleeding profusely until we were safely outside. For weeks after that day, I had nightmares and would often und up in my parents’ bed.

Nightmares weren’t the only thing that has resolved from that night. Since then, anytime there have been earthquakes or aftershocks or anything that even feels like an earthquake, I freak out. Immediately, I start to feel weak and shaky. I become fidgety for the rest of the day, and there is nothing I can do to calm down. There is nothing else that can terrify me so, and, in fact, as the years go by, it seems as though my fears have increased rather than be assuaged by time. The interesting thing about my reaction is the fact that I only seem to get these “symptoms,” for lack of a better word, when the earthquakes occur and after the entire ordeal. In between, in every other crisis or danger I have faced, I remain calm, cool, and collected. Only in the face of an earthquake do I freak out.

Most people get over their fears when they exist because of natural disasters. The people may still have an aversion to the things that remind them of the event that they have lived through, however, they tend to become used to the dangers that go with living in the region. And then there’s me. I still have my fear of any and all earthquakes, no matter how small. My sister accidentally bumping my bed while in my room for some reasons or my dogs jumping on my bed have me waking up, already on high alert. Every time I get worked up, I assure myself that everything is fine, that I am overreacting, and that I won’t act in such a manner the next time. Every time I get worked up, I forget the promise I made last time. In fact, over time, my fear seems to increase despite my effort to rein it in just slightly. Albeit, this has occurred over many years, and only slightly at that. While many other phobias interfere with people’s lives, mine has yet to do so. As such, I have little reason to for fully getting over my fear. Yes, I flip out when I believe there to be earthquakes, but it only occurs every so often, and I have yet to be incapacitated by it. I have only really freaked out at home, anyways. Nothing too embarrassing … yet.

Regardless of whether or not I have been embarrassed by my fear, the fact of the matter remains. An earthquake in 1994 scared me so thoroughly that I can still feel its repercussions, but not so much so that I have felt the need to get professional help. Perhaps, one day, in the near future, preferably before the next earthquake takes place, I will move to someplace else (Europe, maybe) where another phobia will replace my current fear of earthquakes.

I felt the Chino hills earthquake here in Torrance, my family is scared, i’ve heard that there is a big one that will strike, now that an earthquake has shook us here, I am very curious if the big one will strike tomorrow, or soon, like is it possible to have another earthquake after another, first a weak one then a disastrous one?

Since the media doesnt care about the possibility of another earthquake, we are planning to move somewhere else away from california, is this necessary, I dont wanna leave my friends behind, but i know my parents are thinking of my safety, but im trying to explain is no big deal but I am also scared if a big earthquake might hit us soon, also what is the best to do in an earthquake, stay inside under table, or go outside in the middle of the road??

Is it really that hard to believe? Me and my mother have this awkward "gift" and we often dream of a certain natural disaster that many times ends up happening. For example, exactly 7 days before the big tsunami in 2004 I dreamed of a tsunami and even told my parents and one week later it shows up in the news.

Studies show that many animals can sense an earthquake or other natural disasters days before they happen. Could it be that some humans might also have this sensitivity and can only demonstrate it through their subconscious?

There was a tornado warning earlier, but it calmed down. My parents don’t believe there’s going to be another tornado, but the thunder is lasting long periods, if that has anything to do with it and it’s greenish/gray outside. Medium rain. I don’t know if there will be one. Any good signs? My house also has no basement and is a one story. Any good place to hide?
