ENOUGH of Hurricane Katrina. YES it was horrible & sad . SO was 9/11. Life goes on! Ever since Katrina every1 scared it’s "going to happen again". Does any1 hate how the media scares us. I live in Houston so I have an idea of what Hurricanes are too! I am so sick of hearing about a storm off the coast of AFRICA & people in Houston making evac. plans & stokcing up on supplies. I know you can’t be too careful but some ppl take it too far don’t you think?

Now that the 5.4 has happened in L.A., does that lessen the change of the "big one" happening sooner rather than later? Due to the fact that this one let out some steam and relieved some of the pressure/tension? Or no?

I’m VP for the Red Cross Club at my school & i was trying to think of something we could do to raise money for the Hurricane Relief project. National Red Cross wants to raise over 1 million dollars by December 1st. So we want to contribute to that. We have a band at your High School that usually performs locally so i was thinking we set up a gig for the band and have them play to raise money but i also wanted to add activities while the band is playing, but i couldn’t think of anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, if this project happens, i was thinking of naming it "Rock the Relief"

Yesterday, I saw many signs & boxes about donating food & school supplies to places, like Africa & Honduras. But do other countries do that for us when our country is struggling? I understand that those are poor countries, but I’m just curious.

People cared more about the tsunami in Asia than they cared abut Hurricanes Katrina & Rita. Why is that?
Yeah. That’s what I’m saying. People here in the US didn’t care about the disasters of their own country.

I have a few questions, I live in the upper-west section of Houston, TX (Harris County for those familar with the area) & Hurricane Ike is expected to make landfall within the next few days, & I have a few questions.

1. What supplies should we buy?

2. Should we evacuate (By we, I mean my mother, sister, age 9, and two dogs) to Baton Rouge, LA, which is where all of my family lives.

3. We live in a two story home, which floor is safer?

4. What are the best non perishable foods?

5. My school is a mainly outdoors campus, with portable buildings, any chance of them blowing away? With expected 130 – 140 mph winds, I would suspect so, but I am no expert.

This article basically says that there is a new product on the market that basically is a bouncing room house. Its shaped like a small cube that can be used as a safe shelter for disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.

The only problem is that there are many people who are claustrophobic who would not be able to last long in this thing.

I asked this Q in R&S but I’m asking it here too, to see what you guys think.
Here are pictures of mosques that are still standing after natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis. In my opinion I think it shows the power of God right in front of our eyes. Some people say that these buildings are built from strong materials but there is a mosque made of wood that survived whilst everything else was destroyed.What are your thoughts?
