Tectonic hazards are events caused by the Tectonic plates below the Earth’s crust colliding into each other, moving against each other, moving apart or the oceanic less dense plate being subducted under the continental plate.
For example, Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tsunami’s. The most well known tsunami is the boxing day 2004 Asian tsunami, which claimed over 200,000 lives. A well known earthquake is the Sichuan Earthquake, which occured in may 2008, in China.
a tectonic event becomes a disaster when people and property are at risk
