Hi im trying to figure out this question for the earth science regents, but i don’t know how to do it.
I knew how to do it at one point in my life but if forgot lol
so
here is the question
the first S-wave arrived at a seismograph station 11 minutes after an earthquake occurred. How long after the arrived of the first P-wave did the first S-wave arrive.
if you could explain how to do it that would be really helpful.

The speed of P and S-waves depends on the the part of the Earth through which they are traveling. If you are talking about the crust, the speed of an S-wave is approximately 3 km/s and that of the P-wave 5.75 km/s.
