Personaly I would choose Florida because at least you you can predict the weather better than you can predict a Damn Earthquake and the game fishing is a heck of alot better But I live in Weastern Washington and Love it
Being that you opend up this question about Natural Disasters I hope you do not mind me providing information on Disaster Safety as well.

Florida…there are warnings for hurricanes. Earthquakes are sudden, and you can’t prepare for them.

There is no perfect place to live each have there own unique ups and downs, but I would prefer Florida….
Lower cost of living
Hurricanes are predicted in advance
Southern Hospitality

Neither.

Well both places are very nice to live but either can be a pain in the butt. Well you got your choices, in Florida, the have a lot of thunderstorms. Florida has the most lightning strikes then any other state. Florida also has hurricanes and tornadoes. With a hurricane coming you may have to evacuate. With a hurricane you will have to deal with high winds and flooding.
California- well as you may know they have earthquakes which are unpredictable. You will also have to deal with wild fires. California also has mud slides in some areas.
In both cases your sure to run into a disaster if you lived long enough in an area. Personally, if I had to move to either state I would choose Florida.
