Is there an underlying cause to these huge earthquakes?

Earthquake Questions
The earthquakes in Haiti and Chile were both huge, and they did not occur over a long period of time, the only around 2 months apart. Is there a reason for these earthquakes? I know what causes earthquakes, I want to know if theres something else happening that caused the two massive quakes , or if it means something will happen? Or is it just a coincidence? What do you think?

Earthquakes happen every day somewhere on the planet. Most are very small or in unpopulated areas and never make the news, but some are massive in heavily populated areas. Some areas are very susceptible to earthquakes. The same area had 9.5 in 1960 and an 8.3 in 1939 that killed 50K, so it’s not like they can be too surprised.
In 1906 they had a 8.8 earthquake. That’s the same year San Francisco had a 7.9.
In the Dominican Republic a 8.1 earthquake hit in 1946. With as common as earthquakes are, it will happen that two big ones might show up in close succession. It sucks, but it’s nothing unusual.

its a coincidence. earthquakes only happen because of the faults.

It’s not coincidence. The US government has a secret military base called HAARP in Alaska that can cause earthquakes as well as a number of other things. Just ask me if you want me to go into detail.
