If natural disaster wiped out most larger plant and animal populations, what do you think?

WOULD survive? I am thinking thermophilic archaea as it seems to be pretty resilient.

The biomass of the single celled life forms is TEN TIMES the biomass of all other life….
If natural disaster wiped out most larger plant and animal populations – the single celled animals would little care. Some would die but the planet would revert to a pre Cambrian ecosystem and continue on…
