If a natural disaster happen to a desert how would it rebuild itself?

Well, winds drive desert storms, and would potentially (and eventually) smooth over all evidence of the disaster. Might take many centuries.
They are still finding thing (cities, tombs) in parts of Egypt that the sands have covered over time and left no hint of their existence. Same forces would "rebuild" any desert. Winds, the winds o time….!
