i think i can understand how 2012 might happen?
so ive been thinking, and ive had an idea. i just wanted it to get to you guys. i don’t believe the world will end in 2012, but ive been seeing HOW it COULD happen.
i would first like to point this out; an earthquake struck haiti, a place already struggling.
one month later: an even bigger earthquake struck. not only is this earthquake bringing tsunamis to other countries, it also so happens that the earths rotation has been changed and our day has become shorter. i don’t know about you guys, but when i heard that there was an earthquake powerful enough to change the earth’s natural course, i felt that this is a power that only a catastrophic event could exceed. think about it: a 2012 disaster would have that kind of effect, and possibly worse. do you guys understand?
what else could end the world?
oh yeah, almost forgot that some very unfriendly people in North Korea are ignoring pleads from other countries and are deciding to go on with their nuclear bomb programs. yeah, i find it very possible that north korea could start a nuclear war or just bomb its enemies.
oh yeah, iran is gaining radioactive elements, right? or some country in the middle east, i cant remember…
what else could destroy the world/human civilization?
i heard about this thing called global warming. just a little thing, really, unless the ice caps melt. if that happens, guess what? its been calculated that cities like New York with their huge sky scrapers would be thousands of feet under water.
if i can remember correctly, earthquakes starting up, the ice caps melting, and a nuclear war would kill us all. and it would fit the mayan prophecy of the end of the world.
i don’t really believe the world will end, but i think that its possible, and with the latest events, that possibility is getting even bigger.

A: t large earthquakes happen all the time, a series of really bad ones like this happened in the 40′s and there is normally 1-4 really bad ones per year
B: the earth rotation changes alot even the 3 gorges dam in china had an effec t, so does the redistribution of ice at the poles and many other factors
C: north korea nuclear program currently has missles that could just about reach Alaska and should they attack anywhere even china (there only real ally) has said they will bring them down
D:your an idiot Iran can now enrich its uranium by 20%…. not the 90% needed to make it weapons grade best they could do is make a dirty bomb which i could make if i brough several million smoke alrams
E: it will take longer than 2 years for global warming to have any effect like that (like hundreds maybe thousands of years more) and water levels wouldn’t reach that high
finally the mayan NEVER predicted ANYTHING would happen at the end of the long count apart from them starting it again

The world isn’t gonna end.
Sure, WWIII is around the corner, but not the end of the world.

"cities like New York with their huge sky scrapers would be thousands of feet under water."
…Actually, if the Western Antarctic ice shelf (and much of Greenland, as predicted) were to melt, sea levels would rise roughly 200 feet. However, I do see what you are saying in your general statement. Very insightful — who knows, you may be right!

I don’t really think the world will end due to natural disasters, but since 2012 is just around the corner i think everyone is on edge and searching for a link between random shit so we can say "The Mayans were right! we’re all going to die a terrible, slow, painful death!" which is rather unfortunate seeing as how the likely hood of that is so slim.
If everyone was going to die, though, I would place my money on biological warfare.

The reason 2012 is being slated as the year of Earths doom is that we are entering a period in which the solar activity of the sun is at one of the highest levels of its natural cycle.
This increase in solar activity is thought to be able to help trigger natural disasters on Earth, such as more extreme storm systems, earthquakes etc…
Super Volcanoes such as the one at Yellowstone are also considered one of the most likely doomsday scenarios as a result of this…

I hope that something happens in 2012 that kills only those people who believed that the world will end in 2012.

The world’s problems are almost overwhelming—and not just because of the wars and conflicts that grab the headlines. Every day, millions of people all over the world face a host of other disasters: famine, disease, economic chaos, racism, ecological and natural catastrophes, and so forth.
Do these mean Jesus’ second coming is very near? It certainly may be, because He indicated that just before He comes again the world ‘s problems will increase. He declared, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places" (Matthew 24:7). While these problems are part of every age, the Bible says they will increase in intensity toward the end.
The only final answer to our problems is Jesus Christ, for when He comes again, He will rule the world with perfect justice and peace. In that day, the Bible says, "He will reign … with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever" (Isaiah 9:7).
The Bible cautions us against trying to set the date for Jesus’ second coming. But it also urges us to be ready and watchful "while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13). Are you ready for that day? You can be, by committing your life to Christ today.

Interesting, but it doesn’t quite fit my ideal of what will happen. I don’t think the world will end either, the Mayas never actually stated that December 21, 2012 would be the end of days. But according to my studies, I think a great change will occur in 2012. I think this is only the start of the natural disasters. I don’t think it’ll be as catastrophic as the movie, but I predict that there will be a geomagnetic reversal. The North and South Poles will suddenly swap polarity if the switch hasn’t already begun. Theoretically Seismic activity is very common before, during and after a Pole shift. It totally confuses the echo system. It hasn’t happened during recorded history, but by looking through geological records we’re overdue for one. I’ve noticed that compasses aren’t as quick to point North as they used to, I think that’s a small piece of evidence.
Furthermore, in my opinion, if the end of days were upon us I don’t think it would happen in 2012. I think 2012 would be the start. Going by the prophecy of John’s Book of Revelation it would appear humanity is quite a ways into the 6th trumpet. The 2nd Woe the Book of Revelation speaks of are natural disasters. This’ll weaken humanity and allow the anti-Christ to come into power, kinda like Hitler did for Germany during World War II. That would be my prediction of how things will befall us if we’re heading towards the end.
I don’t think 2012 will be the end of mankind. I think the only thing that can get rid of humans is ourselves and our nuclear warheads. Stupidity of world leaders and politicians. Their lust for power and worldly goods will lead us to our own undoing.

i think all those things could happen or none of them. i do agree that there have been othere earthquakes and events that have shifted the earths axis slightly but that doesnt mean that its not freaky. i mean look at the stars, they are in a completely different place than they were last month, my husband said that its just the seasons changing but i mean the constilations are like in a totally different area, and they seem brighter, stars that used to you could only see out of the corner of your eyes now you can look right at them all shining, and i know spring is on the way but over here its been a long cold gruling winter and all of a sudden this week its all blue skies and sunshine, coincidence, i dont know, but it does on one hand seem like there are all these signs, but on the other hand they can all be explained away. and i just want to say for anyone who believes that nasa website that says the world cant end um HELLO of course the govt doesnt want us to think the world is going to end, i mean everybody about already does and there will probably be mass rioting and luting as it is they don’t want to add to all the hysteria DUH lol. anyway also i think something has got to happen with all that gravity going out of control with the transit of venus and the solar eclipse happening, and if the poles on the earth do shift, well that is a huge deal, that would be the end of life as we know it, antartica could end up like the sahara desert and the pyramids in egypt could be covered under mountains of snow, not to mention what other kinds of crazy things could happen and god forbid they set off a nuke. that would for sure be the end of the world.
bikenbeer2000 on March 22, 2010 at 9:00 am
Most large earthquakes alter the Earth’s poles and rotation rate. Remember we’re talking inches and microseconds. Seasonal effects alter the Earth’s poles and rotation by amounts thousands of times larger, so this little wobble is nothing.
As for the rest of your speculation, it’s all highly unlikely or isn’t going to end the world anyway.
There is no Mayan prophecy. 2012 will be just another year. Lighten up a bit.
Brightstar431 on March 22, 2010 at 9:00 am
The theory of the world ending in 2012 isn’t true, it’s just a silly hoax. The world isn’t going to end on December 21, 2012, just the Mayan Calendar ends. One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world. The Mayan Calendar has to end sometime and did you know when the Mayan Calendar ended the Mayans would celebrate? Besides, nobody can’t predict when the end of the world is. You shouldn’t always believe what you hear from other people. The scientific evidence about 2012 doesn’t go together. Those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. You know what is sad, people may commit suicide over this thinking its the end of the world. Or maybe some people would get unwise with their money and spend it all like crazy and be in thousands of dollars in debt, just because they thought the world would end. Then they have to pay it off later and deal with the stress of those bills. That’s why those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. You know what else is false about this 2012 garbage?
• Planet X (Nibiru) isn’t going to hit the Earth it doesn’t exist.
• Poles are switching everyday, this isn’t going to happen all in just 1 day. This process takes thousands of years. Throughout geological history there has been may pole switches and life has still survived.
• Also people are saying these poles will switch in one day due to a black hole. That’s NOT true. The nearest black hole to our galaxy is 1600 light years away.
• Sun will be lined up with a sunspot, but it doesn’t mean it will wipe out all life on Earth. One time ago, Earth was lined up with a sunspot and people were on it and everybody didn’t just die.
• There is not going to be catasphoic earthquakes.
• In the Bible there is nothing that says the world will end in 2012. They say they got their proof from Revelation 13 and you see the number 666 and that number is just a number in God’s book that represents human imperfection. So, 3 of those 6′s mean humans are extremely imperfect.
• Just because certain cultures predict it like the Chinese, Japanese and all of them doesn’t mean their predictions are correct. As I said, nobody can predict such a thing.
• No comment will hit Earth.
Each time the end the world is predicted. They are always wrong. Here are all the predictions of when the world would end and each time they where wrong. Before 2012 it was 2006. Then 2000. And 1990, 1988, 1987, 1986, 1985, 1984, 1982, 1980, 1975, 1974, 1970, 1967, 1960, 1957, 1953, 1948, 1940, 1936, 1919, 1915, 1914, 1891, 1856, 1850, 1844, 1832, 1830, 1794, 1792, 1736, 1689, 1669, 1533, 1524, 1496, 1346, 1284, 1205, 1033, 1005, 1000, 992, 968, 500, 375, 365, 200, 90, 60, 30. SEE!! The end hasn’t came and all this shows they are wrong!! Through out history the end has been predicted but has never happened so, whats the point of worrying?
Don’t live your life in fear. Just live your life be sucessful in your life by getting good grades, staying in school, going to college, getting promoted at your job, and achieving lots of goals. Don’t worry about something this silly. It isn’t going to happen! Every few years these silly predictions about the world ending happen. It has happened throughout Human history. Anyways, as from what I just said, you can’t predict the future. What if tommarow were the end? What if tommarow you died in car accident, or something else went wrong which costs your life?
