I am 18, CERT certified, speak Spanish, and want to go on a disaster relief mission this summer. HOW/ Who with?
This would be anywhere from July 1st to the last week of August. I begin college the last week of August. I looked into the Peace Corps, but it lasts 27 months, and I can only defer acceptance from college for one year. Although I could take a year off of school, I would prefer to go for about 2 months. I am willing to go anywhere, but would prefer to not go with a religiously affiliated group, as I am not very religious. But if necessary, I will. I am also willing to pay for the flights there and back, but that is really all of the money that I have (if this is going to be an international trip). I really just want to do something that makes a difference before I spend four years in college.

CERT certification, while useful, is not a substitute for agency-specific training when committing to disaster response.
Consider joining your local Red Cross chapter now, and getting training and experience in local and regional disaster responses. That way, if something does happen during the summer, you could be prepared.
