How prepared is the US for another natural disaster?

Disaster
Think about it before answering. It could be anything from a major mal-funtion of our power grids to nationwide contaminated food. It could be another terrorist attack or severe gas shortages. Are you confident America is ready for it miltarily and financially? Have you ever survived a natural disaster? Me I survived Hugo. It wasn’t the worst but it was hard. No power, gas, or groceries for about 3 weeks. Are you ready?

I’m pretty sure the US is as unprepared as it was before Katrina. Politics is in charge not requirement.

I think US is not prepared for another natural disaster.
The politicians are busy preparing for the next presidential
election in yr 2008.
Hence, they have insufficient time to focus another disaster;
the latest being the Virginia Tech Campus tradegy.
The governments is ‘inward -lookiing’ to make corrections to
boast its slow growth for the 2nd Quarter; hence alot of the
issues either on firefighters or security has been taken a back seat. There is the problems of finance.
There has been debates after debates in the White House prior to any bills on tackling natural disaster can be passed through.

I am always ready. Those that are not and sit around waiting for the government to come for them, deserve their fate. What if there is a nation wide disaster, I hope those that prepared are well armed to protect themselves from the roving hordes of thieves and looters.
