When disaster strikes anywhere in world — flood, famine, hurricane or earthquake — we, Americans, are the first to offer aid. Not just sympathy, but food, clothing, medicine and money. Each year, to help the people of other cultures and lands, Americans contribute billions of dollars, most of it nickels and dimes from just average citizens to help those who are suffering.
According to news reports today here in China, the American people, with their nickles and dimes, have donated approximately 3.2-million dollars! Not government contributions or aide, but the average American man, woman, and child who dug deep into their pockets and gave a nickle here…a dime there…all adding up to millions of dollars.
I am proud of my country and the people. I am an American living in Chongqing, China and I walk with a heavy heart right now, but my head is held high.
Thank you all for your financial support and your prayers….
Michael
P.S. God bless you Tom, I pray you never find yourself searching the rubble for your loved ones, never find yourself wishing for a small bottle of water, never hoping that someone was generous enough to donate a dollar or two to help find you. I thank God there are so few Toms in the world right now.

im kind of disturbed by people like tom
thats just disgusting and rude.
how can you turn a cold shoulder on a nation of people just because of an economic grudge?
these people are suffering, and so many schools have collapsed. its so painful to even hear about it, let alone criticise another country.
so for idiots like tom, keep your cold hearted, spoiled mouth shut.
as for the original question, i believe that most of the relief is coming from international organizations, such as the red cross foundation (yes, it does have an american branch, but all the branches across the globe are pooling resources together.) and i dont think theres been a definite amount right now, since its so recent.
i hope this helps.
