Earthquake in California: What are the chances of a larger earthquake occuring?

We just got a 5.8 earthquake over here about a half hour ago. What would you say are the chances of a much larger one happening this week?

I think the chances of another earthquake is 50/50. It either will or it won't. Safe bet. But you know California is overdue for a "big one". In fact, the Planet Earth is due for a polarity change.

They said there would be a smaller earthquake for the aftershock.
But sooner or later, we're going to have a big one.

I don't know, but stock up on some essentials, so you don't get caught out. Cans of food, and water, or water purification tablets are good bets.

There is only a small chance because we have already had a series of smaller aftershocks. It is good to release built up pressure! Hopefully there will not be any significant seismic events in LA for a while now! Who knows?

i dont know about that. i say its possible but hopefully not. man that one was crazy. i live in south gate and it was the weirdest feeling ever. at first i thought it was just a big truck just passing by the street but next thing u know u feel the ground slowly moving and your body just starts moving side to side. ive never been in such a hard earthquake.

don't kow, but it's taking a long time for aftershocks.
I live in South Gate, and I felt it when i was lying down on the bed.. my parrot flew to the window, my rooster was cock a doodle dooing…… i was home alone, i screamed well more like moaned out loud, like 3 times in a row lol.
shocking enough, he hadn't have one a long time.
to tell you the truth i didn't like when it happened and now I like it. don't know why

there are 4+ earth quakes that happend today….man i was scared off my ass!! the first one was scary and i felt another one 15min ago that was a 3.6

Heres how it works.
There is a 5% chance that this was a foreshock. In 24 hours that drops to a 1% chance.
And that quake was nothing!

Probably a 50 % chance like another person on here said. I felt it too. It was a pretty rough one…knocked things off shelves…I live in Santa Ana btw.

actually it was a 5.4 earthquake.
first they said it was 5.8, then they said it was 5.6 and now they are saying it was 5.4
theres a 1% chance that a larger one can occur this week. theres going to be minor earthquakes here in there. tomorrow too.
