They say it’s a big one around 11.7 magnitude, what do you all think?

The faults there are not likely to be able to generate that much energy under any situation. Geologists are unsure if any existing fault anywhere could generate anything over a 10, That much energy likely requires a bolide impact (like a comet).
The scale earthquakes are measured on is logarithmic, so that means an earthquake of the size you are talking about would have about 700 or 800 times the energy (and destructive power) that the recent great quake in Chile had.

actually, from what I’ve been reading, the earthquake that is expected to hit the US is one located closer to Washington state…. off the coast… another subduction area…. possibly in the next 50 yrs… you must expect that with the pressure being relieved elsewhere, that something else is going to want to move a little, too….. like that one….
