During a seismic refraction survey, is the hammer switch known as a timing geophone?

We used a timing geophone but can’t remember what it was. I also cant picture what it looks like so was wondering if it is the switch that was on the hammer shaft.
i know a hammer switch is found in light switches, however there is a ‘switch’ on the shaft of the hammer. Is the technical name for this the timing geophone?

No a hammer switch is used for a light switch, but a timing geophone is what you are looking for.
