I know about the microscopic ones, I mean do you think there’ll be one that we can feel?

there already was a decent sized one maybe two weeks ago (i think it was around a 3 pointer) out east near palm springs.
but yeah, no doubt there’ll be another one big enough for us to feel this year. it happens every year and i don’t expect 2010 to be any different.

One thought – the rain will lubricate the mantel, the tectonic plates will slide, but who knows when.

did you know there are earthquakes here every day??? 99% of the time we don’t feel them though. usually once or twice a year we get a quake that we actually feel. but on a more serious note, many scientists believe that LA will be hit with a massive earthquake within the next 30 years. one the size of the recent Haiti tragedy. so, yes it is very possible in 2010 we will get a big shaker. let’s hope not!

Yes, in fact there was one at 6:24 pm this evening near Castaic Lake. It was a 1.4 on the Richter scale. It was one of 4 in California so far today. California has some earthquakes every day because it lays at a place where two different Tectonic plates meet. Most of the daily quakes are so light than no one notices them. They have to get in the 3.0 – 3.5 range before anyone would feel them. I guess you’re asking about the "BIG" one. Those only happen about every 30 – 40 years.
