I would imagine that "standing in the Chinese position when the big earthquake happened" would involve having both feet firmly set and spaced well apart for balance, and having a good solid grip on something until the shaking died down.
The entire thing is definitely unfortunate, but the Chinese have killed many times this number of their own people on purpose for political reasons.
Death in China happens all the time…..am I supposed to grieve for every single one?

I’m not altogether sure what "Chinese position" is? If it’s the "the Chinese position" then I definitely don’t know. Perhaps it’s like the missionary position but sideways on.
If the question was "Could you stand in the Chinese position when the big earthquake happened?" then I don’t know because I’m not sure what I was doing. The chances are I wasn’t standing as I have a sedentary job or I might have been in bed.

Thank you for your news. I live in California, USA, and I have seen earthquakes in my city. But this is much worse.
I am praying for the victims of the earthquake.
I know the Chinese people are courageous and clever in an emergency.
In California, our buildings are required to be strong enough to resist earthquakes. This is one reason we have few earthquake deaths. Maybe this disaster will make people think of making buildings safe for earthquakes.
