Can seismic testing drive animals crazy?
Ever since they started doing gas & oil testing on my neighbors land their horse has gone crazy. Unfortunately, it jumped the fence and got hit by a passing car this weekend. But the neighbor said he just hasn’t been able to calm the horse since they started the testing. There is a pond on the property, if that helps.

I’ve been horse back when a minor earthquake hit..the horses knew it was coming long before we did. I’ve also noticed they sense the pressure wave in front of low flying aircraft before I know the plane is coming, so yes I’m sure they feel seismic blasts and if its a spooky horse, I’m sure it would send him running.

Animals can seem to sense impending earthquakes before we can, so it makes sense that nearby testing that is shaking that ground may be making the horse very nervous. Is there anyway they can board the horse elsewhere until the testing is done? It sounds like it’s very stressful for the poor horse.

Horses have enhanced hearing compared to humans. The vibrations or noises that are employed for seismic testing will definitely bother our equine friends. Horses are much more sensitive to everything than people. Try finding a boarding stable out of the immediate area until the testing is done. Good Luck and sorry to hear about the accident

You gotta be in Texas!! So am I. This is a interesting question, as I had the seismic cables in my pasture, WITH my horses. I never saw anything that changed in them. However, if its the pounding from nearby, it MAY have an effect. Has anyone contacted the company doing the seismic work? I know where I live, if anything had happened to my horses THEY were responsible. May be hard to prove, but worth looking into. Let me know if you find out anything. I have wells going up all around me! I am very sorry about your friend’s horse.
