Earthquake Questions
Why is everyone saying California is going to break off into the ocean and tsunamis will come etc? I’m moving there in two months and this is not something i want to happen to me! Do you think its even possible?

Over millions of years it may break off. But, you don’t have to worry about that.

California is not going to "break off". It is earthquake prone due to the San Andreas fault, but this is southern California. Northern California doesn’t have quite the EQ threats.
Tsunamis shouldn’t be a big concern either. Tsunamis (big ones at least) are not very common in California and is only a big problem if you live in close proximity to the coast.
I’d say you’ll be fine.

Actually, California is breaking off, just as Baja California has. California is currently moving away from the mainland about 1cm a year. This movement is stretching the earth’s crust to the east of California and has created the Great Basin, which extends from Mexico to Oregon. El Centro is already 50 feet below sea level… And dropping!
