Ive seen that a lot of search and rescue teams and associations are all volunteer. but some are paying jobs. this is something i want to do for a living. i wanna have the opportunity to help save lives and be a part of disaster relief. i was thinking about joining the national guard and maybe going to school for a couple years to take class’s in this type of work. any advice/ criticism? thanks

The National Guard is probably the only place where you get paid for search and rescue, but it won’t focus on search and rescue anyway. Civil Air Patrol would give you more opportunities to help, but you don’t get paid.
