I don’t want to trouble anyone for full translation, but I don’t understand Italian, if you read Italian could you please confirm whether the boy in the picture is Giuseppe Chiavaroli who died in the L’Aquila earthquake in Italy? If he is not, who is he?

My mom and her friend just started an on-line hurricane supply website it has generators, first aid kits for any where from single person to 16 people first aid kits and children and animal first aid kits, crank tv/radio, flashlights, candles, batteries of all sizes, lanterns, helpful hints, and connects with a broward county top of the line tree service for before or after the storm.

Its something they built with helping others on their minds. We haven’t had any hits and i wanna do my part in helping her. She wants me to advertise as much as possible on-line without spending a dime. Can you help.

Maybe if you have any suggestions on souping up the page you can check it out at www.onestophurricaneshop.net

I need to interview someone who has been in a natural disaster.
What type of disaster did you experience?
When and where did this disaster occur?
What did you do to prepare for the disaster?
What steps did you take during the disaster to protect yourself or your home?
What was the experience like after the disaster?
What did you learn from this experience?

It was a minor quake and I know Illinois is at high risk for them, and not just because of the New Madrid Fault but many other ones too. It was a little shake and last year I hear a sonic boom and the power went out, so if you did feel the quake that just happened right now go here: http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/shake/cus/html/unknown_form.html
PLEASE ANSWER!!!

I heard through the grape vine that there is a fault line deep down in the crust in the southern central part if minnesota near mankato. I don’t know if ths is true or not, but it is part of a snow belt that we have herethat always gets hit hard with snow every year. Just wondering if they are not possibly a hundred percent true.

Silly question, but would opening all the doors and windows in my house (presumably with me not in it ) theoretically prevent it from being taken by a tornado?

Did anybody in the Eastern part of the US feel a earthquake? I’m on southern Kentucky and something just shook my bed and knocked a picture off the wall, nothing major. I was on 4chan.org and found about 20 – 30 people posting about small earthquakes that have hit. Anybody else?

When an earthquake occurs, two types of sound waves are generated and travel through the earth. The primary, or P, wave has a speed of about 8.0 km/s and the secondary, or S, wave has a speed of about 4.5 km/s. A seismograph, located some distance away, records the arrival of the P wave and then, 78 s later, records the arrival of the S wave. Assuming that the waves travel in a straight line, how far is the seismograph from the earthquake?
Can you tell me how you did it if you get this? Thanks!

I am not a scientist and know nothing about physics. But noticed that the news stations are keeping quiet about 4 fairly large earthquakes in 4 seperate locations today. Could these possible have been spurred on by the CERN project?

Does anyone have any ideas about introducing the concept of earthquakes to a 4th grade classroom? They do not have computers in the classroom so any media is out of the picture. Please let me know if you have any ideas. I want it to be fun!

how are inmates kept safe when something like this happens? Does anyone care or just figure that if they did they crime this is their punishment?
Criminal or not, every human has the right to be safe.
So the question is this: what is state protocol during a natural disaster?

you have to read this site to understand why I asked the question

Since we are more vulnerable to gas spikes, I am concerned that it will affect supplies.

I got gas for .59 a gallon today and I like it that way.

A red line that’s appeared on the right Map that shows North America and it also reaches up to Alaska. What does it mean?
I know it’s the san andreas fault but why is it marked with the red line?

any other time I’ve looked there never been anything like that there.

in the last month or so, I’ve seen several flashes that lit up the entire night sky on three different occasions. The last time I saw a group of three randomly spaced flashes accompanied by a low pitch, brief humming sound that reached me about 5 seconds later. About twenty minutes later there was an earthquake. I looked up earthquake flashes and they are said to look like auroras, but the flashes i saw were completely even in brightness over the whole sky, unlike auroras. Anyone have any ideas what they might be?

From death tolls to building structures, anything, as long as it would reduce the impacts/effects of earthquakes…

my room is currently filled with my gymnastics memorabilia on my walls– all walls except for that one annoying blank spot above my day bed. i’m hesitant to put a huge picture frame there incase of an earthquake. so far i’ve been taping pictures of me and my friends, but it looks a bit tacky. i just need some good creative ideas for that wall above my bed.

thanks :D
