I've done some crazy things in my life, but I've never lived on top of a big fault line. When it happens, why should it become my problem?

Just on NPR..http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2007zpb3.php
That link shows it?
That says it was 4.8, I do not know what that means. Other ones on that site say 4.4 is yellow?
Dang, after looking at all the junk,,,ermm data on that site ,it looks like there is a quake everywhere at anytime. This is a fun planet?

It was a bit late when I think I felt a pretty strong shake.
I thought it was an earthquake but apparently no one else felt it but me…
So anyone else feel it?

After an earthquake, you are given seismograph reading from three locations, where the coordinate units are miles
At A(2, 1), the epicenter is 5 miles away
At B(-2, -2), the epicenter is 6 miles away.
At C(-6, 4), the epicenter is 4 miles away.

a) What are the coordinates of the epicenter?

I live in a seismic country where the land shakes very often, and everyone has a story to tell: what they were doing, or wearing, when the quake came, what they did, or thought.
I’ d love to read your stories. While you answer, I will go fix the pictures on the wall: not one is straight.

A small stadium (minor league size, 5000 seats). We're wondering if there's a Florida natural disaster that would only devastate 25 miles or less. If so, what's the smallest mileage a natural disaster could destroy, but be strong enough to crumble a stadium?

I've just been hearing a lot of talk. Don't know if its true. But the internet says a lot about "The Big One." I guess thats suppose to be the earthquake. But when is it suppose to occur?

If the United States decides to build all buildings underground due to lack of space above, how would earthquakes affect them?

Would they break apart and be buried?
Lets use an Earthquake level of 6.0

The media did not report much on the earthquakes – is it because people were more interested in the Super Bowl? I care nothing about the Super Bowl and heard about it all day but did not hear anything about the earthquakes until the next morning which was over 12 hours later.

Seismologists, people who study earthquakes, often use the Richter scale to describe the strength of the earthquake. Explain how the Richter scale is used.

The underground nuclear bomb explotions (like north korea) apparently creates a shockwave that is detected as an "artifical" earthquake. There are numerous seismic problems in Japan by natural geological processes. Is the nuclear explosion strong enough to trigger an unattended consequence (i.e. tip the balance for a major earthquake of natural causes)? There were a lot of these tests done in Nevada which is not far from California's San Andreas fault. Does that mean the forces involved are just not strong enough to significantly impact natural geological processes?

I hear people say you should aviod living in California because of the earthquakes, but no one ever says how often they happen. The way people talk I would think they're happening constantly, but I went to LA for like a week and didn't feel any earthquakes, I image it's because I was only there for a short time. So how often do they usually come, once a week, once a month, etc?? How bad are they usually? Is there anyone from Cali who has experienced an earthquake?
By the way to the young lady below, I don't call it Cali either, it was just an abbreviation. So your comments were unnecessary. Even if I did what difference does it make? That had nothing to do with my question.

I think so. They are not sure yet. Im watching the news. Apparently, a landslide from the island "Cape Verde" has fallen into the ocean and that might send a tidal wave going towards the east coast of the united states. They are not a 100% sure yet but I think it is. Well, God is certainly gonna teach us a lesson if it is.
Yep thats the one. They are not sure yet, tho. It might send a 2 foot wave. Or a 300 foot wave. Thats just a guess. They are not sure yet.
G – man this is serious..they are not 100% sure yet.

They are still talking. They are trying to find out.

I think that Yahoo!360 is having some serious technical problems. Two days ago, suddenly I can not view the content of HOME or MY PAGE as well as others cannot view my 360 homepage. However, the rest is still okay.
Can you give me any help or solution? Is it related to the recent earthquake or is someone trying to attack Yahoo!?
Anyway, you can check my Yahoo!360 for a clearer description of my case:

Thanks in advance.

I have heard much talk about a future California earthquake (San Andreas Fault) that is supposed to be the biggest, most devastating one yet. It is predicted to take place in my lifetime. There was a special on tv, but I didn't get to see it and I don't remember what it was called.

Does anyone know of a site or program that has a big description of the estimated/supposed year the earthquake will happen, damage, etc?

My Doberman started acting so weird one night I called the sheriff's department because I was afraid I had a prowler.
About 45 minutes later we had an earhquake…was it ESP on the dogs part?
